Description
Over the course of nine chapters, the author raises questions that unfold with attempts to answer them. He explains the differences between opinions and beliefs on the one hand and knowledge on the other, in addition to explaining the mechanisms and manifestations of being influenced by opinion and belief, whether in terms of psychological impact or expected pleasure. The book also explains the types of instincts and what moves us towards our beliefs and opinions, and details the mechanism of action of these motives, the causes of clashes and conflicts between them within societies, and the mechanisms of reconciliation as well. The book explains the concept of individual opinion, explaining the aspects of privacy from one individual to another, and the special influences on the individual in this matter. It then deals with the same issues in group opinions, then moves on to explain the mechanisms of opinion transmission and spread, and the means used to promote opinions and beliefs in societies, then provides empirical investigations into the formation of beliefs and the resulting unconscious events.
