Description

In his book, author Fayez bin Musa al-Badrani al-Harbi says: “I have noticed through my work in oral history and my dealings with elderly narrators over years of research work that the general population of the island before the spread of education and the modern renaissance they are now experiencing under the prosperous Saudi rule did not chronicle events, nor did they care about history at all; except for a few scholars on the fingers, and for this reason much of the history of this country has been lost for this reason.

As a result of the absence of history and historians and the public's lack of knowledge of the Hijri date in their calculation of the years, they resorted to dating the most important events that occur in each year, such as saying: ”So-and-so was born on the day of Jarab, or the day of mercy, or the year of Jarad, or the year of Sabla...".
