Description
Muhammad Rida said: “I spent long days and nights in reading and researching the biographies of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. I gathered them together, explained the ambiguities, verified the narratives, established the dates of the events, and responded to objections and nonsense with clear proofs and conclusive arguments, so the book fulfilled my purpose in terms of communicating correct information to the Islamic world. When the book was printed, people received it with acceptance and approval and came to read it with longing and eagerness. By the grace and favor of God, it won the approval of the public and private, and I received letters of praise and encouragement from dignitaries, scholars and writers until I could not thank them for their confidence in my helpless and weak person, and I felt a force that pushed me to continue research and composing despite the many worldly concerns. Many dear friends asked me to follow the biography of the Messenger of Allah with the biographies of the caliphs in the same way that I did, I was pleased with their idea and could not help but respond to their request and I consulted Allah Almighty to write the biography of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) because he is the first of the caliphs whom the Messenger of Allah commanded us to follow their example and guidance.”.
