Description

The Arabic edition of the novel “Les fils de la poussière” was published by the Arab Science Publishers from the Icelandic original “SYNIR DUFTSINS.” The Arabic edition is titled "Children of the Dust." The novel is written by the Icelandic writer Arnaldur Andreadason, translated by Oleg Aoki, and reviewed and edited by the Center for Arabization and Programming in Beirut. In this novel: Daniel, a patient in a psychiatric hospital in Reykjavik in his forties, commits suicide by throwing himself out of the window in front of his brother Palmi. At the same time, his old teacher from his school days is burned alive in aHostel.
A guilt-ridden Palme seeks to uncover the truth and find the link between these two men, while a police team led by Detectives Erlendur and Sigurdur Ulli conducts the official investigation to uncover the killer. In the course of their investigation, they discover that all the students in that class had died one after another in mysterious circumstances in the previous years, further complicating the case.
“The ”Children of the Dust" are children from a school on the outskirts of Reykjavik who were used as guinea pigs for human cloning in the hope of an eternal life that geneticists wanted to prove, and grew up like a plant in a pot. In other words, in a test tube. They are victims of the most important scientific discovery of the modern era. Or victims of what is known as asexual reproduction, which some consider the logical extension of scientific progress, but what about moral progress? In this novel, science and morality are opposites. But what if a second version of our loved ones came back again, as Daniel returned to his brother Palmi's lap?
