About the author:

Dr. Wahba Al-Zuhaili was born in the town of Deir Atiyah in the Damascus suburbs in 1932, and his father was a Hafiz of the Holy Quran, a firm worker in it, a lover of the Prophetic Sunnah, and a merchant farmer.

He is married and has five children, all of whom have completed their university studies except for the last one who is in the middle of his studies.

He studied primary education in the country of birth, then the secondary stage at the Sharia College in Damascus for six years, where he ranked first among all Sharia high school holders in 1952.

He continued his scientific achievement at the Faculty of Sharia at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, where he obtained a high degree and ranked first in 1956.

He then obtained a teaching license from the College of Arabic Language at Al-Azhar, which became his international degree with a teaching license.

During this time, he studied law sciences and obtained a law degree from Ain Shams University with a good grade in 1957.

He received a diploma from the Shari'ah Institute ((Master's)) in 1959 from the Faculty of Law at Cairo University.

He obtained his doctorate in law (Islamic law) in 1963 with first honors with a recommendation to exchange the thesis with foreign universities, and the subject of the thesis (the effects of war in Islamic jurisprudence - a comparative study between the eight schools of thought and public international law) He was appointed a teacher at Damascus University in 1963, then an assistant professor in 1969, then a professor in 1975, and his work is teaching, writing, mentoring, giving public and private lectures, and he may work 16 hours a day.

He specializes in Jurisprudence and Fundamentals of Jurisprudence and teaches them along with Comparative Jurisprudence at the Faculty of Shari'ah and Shari'ah subjects at the Faculty of Law at Damascus University and their postgraduate studies.
