About the author:

Imam Abu Bakr ibn Zayd ibn Mahmoud al-Taqi al-Husseini al-Jara'i (after the village of Jara'a near Nablus), Damascene, Hanbali, was born around 825 AH in the village of Jara'a. He read the Qur'an from Yahya al-Abdousi, al-Amda, al-Azizi in Tafsir, al-Khazqi, al-Nizam in Jurisprudence, the Epic, some Alfiya Ibn Malik, about two-thirds of Jam'at al-Jawama, Alfiya Shaban al-Athari and others. 

He came to Damascus in 842 AH. He took jurisprudence from al-Taqi Ibn Qandas and stayed with him, and with him he graduated and benefited from him in jurisprudence, fundamentals, physics, Arabic, meanings and data. He stayed with Shaykh Abd al-Rahman bin Sulayman al-Hanbali, and took physics from al-Shams al-Saili, and stayed busy until he excelled and became one of the most prominent scholars of his sect in Damascus, taught, fatwa and deputy judge: (He was one of the people of knowledge and religion and was the companion of Sheikh Alaa al-Din al-Mardawi, and he served as a deputy judge in Damascus and went to Egypt, so Judge Izz al-Din al-Kanani swore him in judgment and served as his deputy in the Salhiyah School.).

He met with Sayyid al-Nasaba, al-Alam al-Balqini, al-Jalal al-Mahalli, Umm Hana'a al-Hurainiya, and read a piece of the Badi'ah saying to Ibn Hajar, as well as read to al-Taqi al-Husi and Qadi Izz al-Din a little in logic.

He died in Damascus on the night of Thursday, Rajab 11, 883 AH.
