About the author:

Born in 1922, Thomas Kuhn received his undergraduate degree in physics from Harvard University in 1943, his master's degree in 1946, and his doctorate in 1949.

He taught the History of Science course from 1948 to 1956 at the behest of Harvard President James Conant. After leaving Harvard, Kuhn took a teaching position at the University of California, Berkeley, in the departments of philosophy and history. He received a professorship in the history of science in 1961. In 1964 he moved to Princeton University, and in 1979 he joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he remained until 1991.
