About the Author
Ahmed Shawki was born in the Hanafi neighborhood of Cairo on Rajab 20, 1287 AH corresponding to October 16, 1868, to a Circassian father and a Turkish Greek mother. In other sources, it is mentioned that his father's father is Kurdish and his mother is of Turkish and Circassian origin, and some sources say that his paternal grandmother is Circassian and his maternal grandmother is Greek, and his maternal grandmother worked as a maid in the palace of Khedive Ismail, and was rich and wealthy, so she took care of raising her grandson and grew up with her in the palace.
