The subject of the book: Modern European History from the Renaissance to the Vienna Conference
The contents of the book:
Given the scarcity of references in modern European history in the Arabic language, and given that the Arab reader is forced to resort to translated and untranslated works that are complex in style and not comprehensive, Professor Abdul Hamid Al-Batriq and Dr. Abdul Aziz Nawar decided to put before the reader this study to give a clear picture of this delicate historical period in the history of modern Europe.
They examined the main political developments that influenced, in particular, new religious and sectarian thought, colonial expansion, the international balance between European states, and the resulting protracted conflicts for political and sectarian reasons.
They also studied the emergence of some modern European states during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, including Holland, Russia and Prussia, as well as the emergence of a state based on European civilizational foundations in the New World, namely the United States of America, in addition to studying the development of England in the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and France in the era of Louis XIV.
The final part of the book examines the circumstances that led to the revolution, the developments that led to the emergence of Napoleon Bonaparte, his rise to prominence and the reasons for his fall, and the subsequent convening of the Congress of Vienna (1815). The Congress marked the beginning of a new period in modern history, ending in the late nineteenth century with the emergence of two new great states, the German Empire and the Kingdom of Italy, and the factors that led to World War I. This was the beginning of a new period of modern history that ended in the late nineteenth century.
