Description

“Chalk Days” is a novel in which the shy Mohsen talks about himself and how he progressed in his studies from childhood until he finished his university studies. Of course, there are good days and bad days. The novel takes place in the good old days, as the expression goes, when chalk was used to write on the blackboard.
The novel begins by talking about the foggy period in Mohsen's memory in his first days of school in kindergarten and first grade, and sees the events at school as Mohsen sees them. He couldn't break into the cafeteria, he didn't understand why he was being bullied by some students, and he didn't understand how his older brother and his friends were playing with mutual violence called pranks.
Just as Mohsen began to become familiar with his surroundings, his father moved with his family to another city, and the shy Mohsen began to practice the challenge of assimilating his surroundings, and such a move was repeated again in fourth grade. He moved twice in middle school. He didn't settle down until high school. Unfortunately, he stumbled in his university studies, forcing him to transfer to another university. He was constantly challenged to familiarize himself with his surroundings. However, when he entered university, Mohsen vowed to stop being shy and not to flatter anyone.
The book is full of humor, as it talks about childhood days and their innocence, the impulsiveness of youth and their mistakes and adventures in school, and the absurd arts and drawings that Mohsen kept from his school days.
In the novel, we see Mohsen transition from childhood to manhood, and see the types of teachers and students whose backgrounds varied from one region to another and from school to university. How he came into direct contact with his friends at the university by living with them, and how he practiced university life in all its details.
The novel follows a student's journey through the good old days of school, from the time he enters and exits the world of study, and reflects the realistic image of the student at different stages, and the types of challenges he faces, which in essence is no different from any time, as study is the saga of every student until he finishes it.
